Slow cranking battery
Webb30 dec. 2024 · 1.5 years ago the dealership replaced the battery under warranty for this issue. That kicked the can down the street for about a year. So, for the last 6 months I've been dealing once again with slow cranking on a hot engine. I saw four paths to follow to attack this problem: - add a new ground cable - replace the starter - replace the battery ... WebbStarters are KNOWN to be a faulty or failing part on these Honda’s from 2002-2007. Do not spend a bunch of time diagnosing an intermittent no start if you have slow cranking and intermittent no start. It is likely the starter failing internally and a couple of the brushes failing. Ignition cylinder on these cars is also known to fail.

A well connected starter circuit with everything in good order should not have a cumulative voltage drop of more than about 1 volt with the engine cranking. Webb27 maj 2024 · Slow cranking is usually either failing starter, poor battery or failing connections (corroded cables connections etc) you can gauge the effort required to turn the engine by removing the spark plugs and turning by hand, shouldn't be that hard with a long spanner on the crank pulley. If the battery voltage drops to under 10v while cranking there seems to be enough current flowing to operate the starter motor, but voltage at the solenoid and starter should be higher and battery voltage should drop lower. Add increased starter current draw if the engine is hot, plus the late model bikes "phase up" while cranking and that needs good high cranking RPM.
